Street Photo Diary Issue 33: London Edition
I was passing through a very sunny London city twice over the last week. On each occasion, I was only there for a day or so, and so I didn’t have a lot of time for photography, but I still managed to squeeze an hour or two in on both trips. I hadn’t really intended to shoot street photography specifically, but it sort of ended up that way. I was originally planning to do more “travel photography” style shots, and I was also shooting a video for my new travel vlog series, but in the process of trying to avoid the typical shots of London everyone takes, I somehow ended up shooting street photography. I was actually really lucky with some of the shots too.
On the first time through, I was staying on the south side of the Thames in the Southwark area. This is one of my favourite spots in the city and it includes the wonderful Borough Market. For the time I had here though, I focussed on shooting along the Southbank area, which is a long walkway with numerous shops and restaurants along the river. There were lots happening that day, including a book market which gave lots of opportunities for photography.
On the second trip through, I stayed up in the Bloomsbury area, which includes the British Museum, and Russell Square. It’s another of my favourite spots, and it was also extremely warm that day. I shot a bit around the squares and the museum, but I also headed a bit further afield, up Oxford street and onto Regent street. I had a good time shooting, and I also made a video about the trip too, which you can find on my YouTube channel.
For those curious about the technical details of these images, they were all taken with a Fujifilm X-Pro2 and an 18-55mm Lens. They were pre-processed with Iridient X-Transformer, and finished in Lightroom using VSCO Film presets as a "look".
