Flowers and Gardens in a 17th Century Estate

This weekend we visited a stately home and gardens in Co. Wicklow (in Ireland) that has opened up to the public. Funnily enough, this was near to where I grew up, but I never even knew it was there. The Kilruddery estate, which has a “Tudor revival” style mansion based on a 17th century foundation, and is also a working farm, and has beautiful grounds and gardens.

We went just to get away, as it is nice and open and plenty of room to enjoy the surroundings while safely socially distancing. As with many of my posts on here, this wasn’t intended as a photo taking exercise, but ended up as one. I only had my Sony A6000 with me, and only the one lens, a 30mm sigma, so I was limited as to what I could take. I was intrigued by some of the flowers, and so that’s where I started. They also had hens which were roaming free among the apple trees and form there we went on to view the stately gardens, and the house itself.

It was an overcast day, although the sun did come out briefly. Initially, I was put off by the light, but it actually added to the moodiness of the place. Photos were edited in Lightroom using some yet to be released presets as a starting point. Here is a selection of photos from the shoot. Enjoy.
