A Field of Purple
On the last day of our recent trip around the southwest of Ireland, we stopped at a Lavender farm in Co. Wexford. My wife and I have always been a fan of Lavender, and it featured in the flowers at our wedding, so it was nice to see where it comes from. It also always makes for good photos.
Relying on Google Maps to find the farm off the beaten track was a bit of fun in and of itself. To be fair, there are signs for it, but it is down a pretty small country road. The day we visited was incredibly warm too, as Ireland had been experiencing a heat wave all that week, and the farm was located away from the cooling breeze from the shores of the country where we had previously been.
Finally arriving at our destination, we were greeted by a field of purple and other hues. The lavender plants were spread across two fields, with rows of the flowers creating purple tunnels. It was a beautiful bouquet of smell and colour, and we spent some time just wandering among the lavender, dodging bees and finding the best angles to appreciate the beautiful colour and tranquility of the surroundings.
If you’re in Wexford and want to visit the farm, you can find details on their website here (not a sponsored post)
