Cambridge
I first visited Cambridge a couple of years ago and I absolutely loved it. This was my third visit since then and my first visit post lockdowns. There is something really nice about the city. It’s small, like a big town, and it has a combination of history and grandeur as well as the peaceful parks and riverside. It also has great cafes and great food.
On this visit, I didn’t really have a plan or anything, and I nearly didn’t even take my camera out at all, but sometimes, I just see a scene and feel compelled to capture it. The old buildings, not even the universities, have a texture that oozes history, as if the walls themselves were telling a story.
The river and the punting, as well as the iconic bridges are a relaxing sight to watch, with the calming slow going punts navigating the river cam by the college walls. Further down the river there are canal boats as well as swans and more historic buildings. It’s like something out of a storybook.
The town is also a pleasure to walk around, and the streets remind me of many a British romantic movie or tv show. The weather was great for the trip too, and so, it was an enjoyable visit all around. I was also surprised at how much greenery there was around the town and the university buildings. The last time I was there was in winter, so I hadn’t realised how green the city was. The photos I took aren’t exactly award winning or anything, but as I said, sometimes I see a scene unfold infant of me and I want to capture it in that moment as I see it.
For those interested in the technical details, these were shot using a Fujifilm X-E4 with 18-55mm lens. Processed in Lightroom using the “Enhance” method for raw conversion, and using my own Lightroom presets and techniques.
